Field Auditor (Site In-Charge - Tata Steel, Kalinganagar)

Martin Engineering is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Site In Charge to be based at Tata Steel Kalinganagar, Jajpur, Odisha. This is a front-line, customer-facing leadership role requiring high-intensity engagement with the client's plant teams, procurement systems, and safety protocols on a daily basis.

The Site Manager will be the single point of contact and ownership for all Martin Engineering activities at the Tata Kalinganagar plant, managing a blended team of 6-8 personnel (on-roll + contract) while ensuring seamless product performance, service delivery, compliance, and relationship excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Customer Engagement & Relationship Management

● Act as the primary on-site face of Martin Engineering to Tata Steel Kalinganagar plant officials, maintenance engineers, and procurement teams.

● Build and sustain strong working relationships with plant-level stakeholders across departments – Maintenance, Operations, Stores, and Procurement.

● Conduct regular site walkouts, product performance reviews, and feedback sessions with the client's technical and commercial teams.

● Proactively identify new cross-sell relevant product lines (cleaners, skirting, impact solutions, belt support), and coordinate with the regional sales team.

● Address client complaints, technical escalations, and service requests with urgency and professionalism.

● Represent Martin Engineering in plant-level safety and operations meetings as required.

B. Plant Procurement & Documentation:

● Initiate and manage Indent & PR (Purchase Requisition) generation for required materials and services through the client's SAP/procurement system.

● Raise and process Shopping Cart entries within the procurement portal for routine consumable replenishments.

● Oversee Material Inwarding – coordinate with the client's stores/logistics team for GRN (Goods Receipt Note) confirmation and timely receipt of delivered materials.

● Create ECCI (Engineering Change / Contract Compliance Invoice) entries and follow up for processing and clearance.

● Submit Invoices as per contract terms; track invoice status and ensure timely payment recovery in coordination with the Martin Engineering accounts team.

● Generate and manage Gate Passes – Permanent and Temporary – for Martin Engineering personnel and contractors entering the plant.

Arrange and renew Vehicle Passes for site vehicles as per Tata Steel gate regulations; maintain a tracker for all active passes and renewal timelines.

C. Site Operations & Team Management

● Lead, manage, and coordinate a team of 6-8 personnel (on-roll + contractual/contact workers) deployed at the plant site.

● Supervise installation, commissioning, maintenance, and replacement of conveyor equipment – belt cleaners, impact bars, skirting systems, belt support, dust suppression systems, and related spares.

● Ensure all on-site activities are executed safely and as per Martin Engineering's technical standards and the client's plant operating procedures.

● Coordinate with Martin Engineering's technical team for product troubleshooting, site audits, and performance assessments.

● Maintain accurate records of site activity, product performance, material consumption, and team deployment.

D. Plant Procurement & Documentation (Tata Kalinganagar Systems)

● Initiate and manage Indent & PR (Purchase Requisition) generation for required materials and services through the client's SAP/procurement system.

E. Safety, Compliance & Permit Management

● Ensure 100% compliance with Tata Steel Kalinganagar's safety standards, rules, and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.

● Obtain and manage Permit to Work (PTW) for all planned maintenance and installation jobs on site – including Hot Work Permits, Cold Work Permits, and Confined Space Permits as applicable.

● Conduct Tool Box Talks (TBTs) and pre-job safety briefings for the team before the commencement of each work order.

● Ensure all team members are equipped with and using the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as mandated by the plant.

● Liaise with Tata Steel's safety department and executing agencies for hazard assessments, proximity hazard identification, and 6-direction hazard reporting.

● Maintain incident logs, near-miss reports, and ensure timely reporting to both the client and Martin Engineering's safety officer.

● Monitor and renew contractor safety certification, site induction validity, and any medical fitness records for team personnel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Educational Qualification

● Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

● Additional certification in Industrial Safety / OHSAS / HSE will be an added advantage.

Experience

● Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in site operations, maintenance services, or technical sales in the conveyor equipment / material handling industry.

● Prior experience managing large sites with Multiple departments will be preferred.

● Must have hands-on experience working at Tata Steel Kalinganagar or equivalent large-scale integrated steel plant as an on-site service/maintenance vendor representative.

● Demonstrated experience in managing multi-person field teams (on-roll and contractual).

Technical Skills

● Thorough knowledge of belt conveyor systems – cleaners, skirting, idlers, belt support, impact protection, and dust suppression.

● Familiar with conveyor maintenance schedules, condition-based monitoring, and failure analysis.

● Proficiency in Tata Steel Kalinganagar's internal procurement and compliance systems:

○ SAP-based Indent & PR / Shopping Cart generation

○ Material Inwarding / GRN processes

○ ECCI creation and invoice submission workflow

○ Gate Pass (Permanent / Temporary) management

○ Vehicle Pass issuance and renewal

○ PTW (Permit to Work) creation and management

● Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word); familiarity with SAP MM or procurement portals.
